Delete your account

Keeper of Things
How to permanently delete your account and data

You're always in control of your Keeper of Things data. You can permanently delete your account — and everything in it — at any time, directly from the app. This page explains exactly how deletion works, what happens to your subscription, what to do if you've forgotten your password, and precisely which data is removed and which is kept.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Once your account is deleted, it — and your entire inventory — cannot be recovered. If you only want to take a break, sign out instead.

How to delete your account

Account deletion happens inside the Keeper of Things app — there is no way to sign in or delete your account on this website. The whole process takes under a minute:

  1. Open the Keeper of Things app and sign in.
  2. Go to Profile (the account tab).
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  4. Read the summary of what will be removed, then tap Continue.
  5. Re-enter your password to confirm it's really you. For your security we require you to have signed in recently — if it has been a while, you may be asked to re-authenticate first.
  6. Tap Delete account. Your account is deleted and you are signed out immediately.

What happens right away, and what happens in the background

  • Immediately: your sign-in credentials are deleted, so you can no longer log in, and you are signed out on the device. Your household membership is removed at the same time.
  • In the background: the rest of your data — items, locations, photos, AI scan history, exports, and usage records — is queued for permanent erasure. Because deletion runs asynchronously and our cloud provider keeps short-lived backups, complete erasure everywhere can take up to 30 days.

If you own a household that still has other members, you'll be asked to transfer ownership or remove those members before you can delete your account. This protects the shared inventory the rest of your household relies on.

Your subscription: cancel it separately

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription, and does not trigger a refund.

Keeper of Things subscriptions are billed and managed by Google Play, not by us. Deleting your Keeper of Things account removes the subscription record we store, but it does not stop Google from billing you — only Google Play can cancel a Google Play subscription.

If you subscribe and want billing to stop, cancel in Google Play first, then delete your account:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
  3. Select Keeper of Things.
  4. Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.

Cancelling turns off auto-renew; you keep your paid features until the end of the current billing period. Google Play does not provide automatic partial refunds for the current period — any refund is at Google's discretion and must be requested through Google Play support.

If you've forgotten your password

Deleting your account requires re-entering your password, so we know it's really you. Because you can't sign in on this website, reset it in the app:

  1. Open the Keeper of Things app and go to the sign-in screen.
  2. Tap Forgot password?
  3. On the Reset Password screen, enter your email — we'll email you instructions to set a new password.
  4. Follow the link in that email and choose a new password.
  5. Return to the app and sign in with your new password.
  6. Now follow the deletion steps above (Profile → Delete account).

If you can't access the app or your email at all, email us at [email protected] with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and we'll process the deletion for you — typically within 7 business days.

What data is deleted, and what is kept

The tables below mirror our Privacy Policy. When you delete your account we erase everything tied only to you; a few records are retained for other people's data, or for legal and operational reasons.

Deleted when you delete your account

Data What happens
Account identity and sign-in credentials The Firebase Auth record is deleted immediately — including email, display name, and credentials
Account settings and private account records Erased in the background by the configured account-deletion service
Custom profile photo Its account pointer and stored bytes are erased in the background; generation-matched cleanup also catches a delayed upload that finishes after deletion begins
Inventory items and locations Permanently deleted
Photos and uploaded images Permanently deleted, including AI-detection source images
AI review batches and scan history Permanently deleted
AI credit usage ledger Permanently deleted
Account-linked subscription and purchase data Your user subscription record and your account link from one-time purchase records are deleted (this is not the same as cancelling Google Play — see above)
Exported PDFs Permanently deleted
Household membership You are removed from any shared household

Kept, or may persist

Data Why
Shared household content Items you added as shared resources may remain for the other members of your household
In-app feedback you sent us Kept unless you separately ask us to delete it (email [email protected])
Household invitation emails Delivery metadata kept by our email provider per its defaults
System and audit logs Anonymised references retained up to ~30 days (provider defaults are 30–365 days)
One-time purchase tombstones A minimal server-only record containing a one-way store/transaction hash, product, store, refund status, and lifecycle history is retained without your account identifier so a duplicate purchase event cannot be fulfilled twice and a later store refund can still be processed
Backups Short-lived provider backups (typically up to 7 days) are purged on their normal cycle
